The need to belong is a very human one. For as long as humans have walked the earth, they needed to belong in order to survive. This need to belong can make us modify ourselves into being what we think other people want us to be. We laugh at jokes we don’t enjoy; we spend time with people we would rather avoid – all because we think we need to. However, we can only ever truly belong once we are being our authentic – perfectly imperfect – selves.
Write down three people or groups of people that make you feel like you truly belong, with whom you can really be yourself, not watching your words, not adjusting your behaviour, but who makes you feel like yourself, seen, acknowledged, loved. The results might surprise you, but be open to them. This is your tribe.
