The interpretation of courage is different for every person. While some have no issues speaking in front of an audience or climbing a mountain, for others simply entering a room full of people can take a moment of overwhelming courage. How courageous we are able to be is intrinsically linked to our sense of self, if we feel worthy, we can take risks and do things that scare us.
Can you think of a moment when you have had to summon the courage to get through it, how did it feel? And how did it feel afterwards, did it lessen your fear going forward? Can you write a list of things that once felt terrifying – for example, driving a car – that you now do with ease? Can you remember this list the next time you feel afraid?
