Do you ever notice that you are holding your breath? In a stressful or uncomfortable situation our breath is often the first thing to go. And yet, if we master our breathing, this can often bring us back to ourselves most quickly. Today, try to find a few moments where you can stop, close your eyes and focus on your breath. Count in for a count of four seconds, hold for seven seconds and breath out slowly over eight breaths. Do this four times and see how you feel – can you do this at times of stress through your daily practice?
Later, in your journal, write down the following sentence: ‘Today, I took a deep breath, and I let go of….’ – finish the sentence with as many of the things you worked through today with the power of the breath.
