Day 24
Believe
Keeping the faith
As Thomas Edison famously noted: ‘I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.’ It’s easy to get disheartened when something we aim for doesn’t work out but how we respond to this is key. How do you speak to yourself when something doesn’t work, do you blame yourself? Or others? Are you filled with guilt or worse shame? Think of a time when you kept going despite setbacks – did you retake your driving test more than one or miss out on a promotion at work – how did you feel when you finally achieved what you set out to do?
Starting with the phrase ‘I believe…’ write about something that you are struggling with, listing first the problems, and then the possible solutions, and finally your belief that this is a challenge you will overcome. Return to this whenever you need it.
