The Pink State
Being well, feeling alive, living fully: the Kintsugi Space vision of vitality and possibility for women
What does it mean for a woman to live exceptionally well?
Beyond the longevity cultures of the Blue Zones, the vision of Kintsugi Space is about learning how to live better.
The Pink State shifts the conversation from longevity to quality of life across time. It is not another Blue Zone. It aims for vitality rather than lifespan, for resilience rather than optimisation, for pleasure rather than restriction, for living well rather than constantly trying to improve ourselves.
Not simply to live longer, to look younger, to perform better, but to feel more alive, more energised, more present and more fully ourselves throughout every stage of life.
Not fit, not beautiful. Well.
A New Way of Thinking About Women's Wellbeing
Pink is the apron you wear while cooking with friends.
Pink is the dress you put on to go dancing.
Pink can be the helmet of the skier preparing for a downhill run.
Pink is the colour of running shoes and of the lipstick we wear.
Pink holds a distinctly female point of view, without ever reducing women to a stereotype. It can be sophisticated or intelligent, sensual or bold, playful, elegant, brave, wild, unexpected.
It is a state we can enter, inhabit and tend, like a garden. It is not a checklist or a perfect version of ourselves. It is a way of being well: of feeling alive, of belonging to ourselves, to the people we love and to the world around us. A state in which health, beauty, vitality and joy no longer compete for our attention but become parts of the same life.
Fitness, nutrition, beauty, mental health, sleep, ageing, relationships: women do not experience their lives in categories.
Everything is connected. The way we eat affects our energy; the way we move shapes our mood. The people around us influence our health. Rest sustains our ability to create and connect. Beauty, purpose and pleasure colour how we feel and how well we live.
The Pink State is built around the belief that wellbeing is not something we add to our lives. It is something we build our lives around.
Its purpose is to create the conditions in which women can thrive.
It is a way of living we share at Kintsugi Space.
The Pink State Principles
Eating fresh, whole and simple food. Together with friends and loved ones. Moving naturally. Living outdoors. Respecting natural rhythms and seasons. Making time for relationships. Allowing space for pleasure. Taking time rather than constantly accelerating. Looking for beauty in everyday life.
Dancing.
Singing.
Laughing.
Drawing inspiration from Mediterranean wisdom, the Pink State understands that health and enjoyment are on the same team. And it is guided by practices to try.
Build a relationship with your BODY based on listening, awareness, prevention and respect rather than restriction.
Understand what gives you ENERGY and what takes it away, to be fully present in your life.
Eat for vitality, pleasure and connection: NOURISHMENT supports life and makes it enjoyable.
Walk, stretch, dance, train and play, with purpose and enjoyment: our bodies are designed to MOVE.
REST is not a pause from life. It is part of a life well lived.
Light. Air. Water. Seasons. Open space: reconnect with NATURE.
Relationships and human CONNECTION are not an optional extra. They are part of health.
Self-expression. Care. Sensory experience. Ritual: find your own way to nurture BEAUTY.
PLEASURE is curiosity, sensuality, laughter, fun, joy. And life needs it.
Enjoy CREATIVITY: keep learning, free your imagination, remain open to something new.
PURPOSE gives vitality a direction: wellbeing becomes richer when life has meaning.
Beyond optimisation, acceleration and measurement: some of the most valuable things in life require TIME.
Quote of the Month
“Better to add life to your days than days to your life”
– Rita Levi-Montalcini
Kintsugi Space, Abu Dhabi: A Global Living Laboratory
The Pink State was not born around a table. It is a multigenerational movement of researchers and health professionals, experts in ageing, vitality and human health: a living body of knowledge, continually growing.
What does a truly well-lived female life look like today?
A morning of movement and sunlight, a shared Mediterranean meal, a conversation with an expert, a beauty ritual, a walk in nature, a period of deep recovery, an exploration of women’s changing bodies, a new understanding of nutrition. The Pink State becomes meaningful when it is lived.
Abu Dhabi is where this knowledge comes alive: explored, experienced and refined through everyday practices. Here, women can develop their own understanding of what wellbeing means to them, turning it into a deeply personal, embodied and evolving experience.
Yet Kintsugi Space’s movement is not bound by physical or cultural borders. What begins in Abu Dhabi does not stay there: its philosophy, insights and experiences can travel, evolve and inspire women across the world.
A woman may first encounter the Pink State through an article, a conversation, a book, a social story, an expert perspective, a publication about living well: a first spark, opening a window onto the Kintsugi Space vision and inviting her to explore it further.
The philosophy reaches beyond the physical space, the experience gives it substance.
As women embrace it, interpret it and make it their own, they shape it and, ultimately, it becomes a new culture of wellbeing.
Not a trend. Not a perfect life. But a movement towards a different way of thinking, feeling and living.
A way of living with more energy, more connection, more beauty, more purpose.
More life.
